Mark Kifowit, MA, shares best practices and tactics from fifteen years’ experience of disclosure where RM was not always fully implemented. Session attendance can be valuable to prepare for afternoon session for on automated redaction (SSN, IP addresses, etc.) with citations for exemptions.

International information management expert, author, and Professor of Records Management, Dr. William Saffady examines the principles of Information Risk. Attendees get a practical guide to identify and reduce exposure to information risk, being the combination of threats and vulnerabilities affecting an organization’s information assets. While records managers, information governance specialists, and archivists capably "protect and retain" agency information, understanding this broader approach to information risk allows them to better manage the integrated relationship of governance, risk, and compliance--the so-called “GRC” disciplines.

Course Instructors and Keynote Speakers 

William Saffady, PhD International expert Dr. Saffady (www.saffady.com) analyzes policies and practices for the management of information.  As author of over 100 publications on information management, his work examines formats along with technical and resource requirements for electronic records management.  Previously Professor of Library Sciences at Vanderbilt University, Dr. Saffady consults on Records Assessments projects.

Leslie Turner, CRM, CPRO, ERMp, IGp Ms. Turner was previously Program Specialist for the Washington State Archives (2006 2017) providing training and consulting on electronic records systems along with transfer of permanent records to the Digital Archives.  As Public Disclosure Coordinator for WA State Dept. of Ecology, Ms. Turner created procedures for discovery and public disclosure.  As senior Records Consultant, Ms. Turner conducts records assessments and creates retention policies within ECM systems in accordance with WA State Common Records Schedule (CORE).

Mark Kifowit, MA Mr. Kifowit was previously a Public Disclosure Specialist with the Department of Corrections and Director of Records Management for the OMWBE where he created records management policies, training systems, and procedures for processing disclosures in response to public records requests.  As senior Records Consultant, Mr. Kifowit consults on discovery processes and conduct records assessments in preparation for adoption of an ECM system.
